I found this tonight at an 1800's house.
It appears to be brass and has that "100-year old injun patina" if you know what I mean.
Any thoughts?

A Keebler Elf concrete trowel.
No idea really, but maybe a guide eye for a rod or string like on a sewing machine. And thats just a far out guess.

I thought the same thing, tiny trowel

No gun part I have ever seen. No clue as to its use though.
I guess it is more bronze than brass, sure wish I knew what it was. Definitely made for a specific purpose.

My guess is the female part of a cabinet door latch. I'm guessing that a bolt on the door slid into it, and that your part was somehow mounted on the cabinet frame. It's an awkward explanation, I know, but hopefully you get the idea.

There are no mounting holes, so I think it is the part of a hasp called the staple, and was sewn into a cloth or leather purse.

Very interesting, I suppose it could have been part of any type of hasp then.
thank you for looking!
