I hit an 1840s permission in the small, Massachusetts town I grew up in recently and got a bucket list find that was quite unexpected.

Much to my surprise, this 1788 Connecticut State copper came out of an 1840s yard. I was pretty surprised to find something 50 years older than the house but later on a few Ox shoes showed up. I'm theorizing that this was farmland before the house was built even though it's the oldest house within a half mile.

The yard also produced a Civil War era general service coat button and a Civil War era Rhode Island state coat button.

I"ll be heading back...
