I always carry my mobile phone with me when I am out detecting, but I have
heard some people say that it's not a good idea.
They reckon there's a possibility of interference getting into the detectors
circuitry.

Does anyone have any views on this, or positive evidence ?

Depending on your cell phone model, the phone will "call home" periodically and handshake with the local cell to let it know its location. Also, the farther away it is from a cellular antenna tower, the stronger the signal it transmits.

My MXT doesn't seem to be affected by the above, but it sure gets annoyed when an incoming call comes in.

Yeah when my cell starts ringing it my pocket my detector goes crazy and then I start thinking something is wrong with my coil... I leave the phone in the truck now...

The solution is turn it off untill you need it. All your calls will go to voice mail. Detecting is my 'fishing time' I don't want to be reached no way, no how.

You know I've always wandered, but never really noticed any interference from the phone. Plus, if I keep it off that means I'm probly out doing something the g/f thinks I shouldnt. Not that I am, but if the phone is off thats the assumption
