After some research hunted an area in Atlanta near a CW encampment. Got the info on the camp from a guy who said his neighbor used to hunt that area in the 70's and found lots of CW bullets and other relics. Plus on a 1864 map of the Union and Confederate army positions there was a division encamped in that area also.

My son found something that may be CW era horse tack, but that is just a guess. What do you guys think?

I found a small flat button about 5" down. Due to the small size, maybe a woman's flat button? Have not tried to clean it yet but don't think there is a design on the button. Shank is in pretty good condition.

Flat button shown next to modern penny for size comparison and two views front and back.

My son was hunting with an Ace 250. I was using my Nox 800 and found the flat button about 5" down. Gave a nice signal. Ground was moist after 5 days of rain, but drained and not muddy.

Any help on identifying the horse tack and flat button as civil war era or not will be helpful.

Again what to you guys think?
