Charles Cluthe & Sons

I havenít been out much recently so Iíve been cleaning. I found this piece earlier in the spring and recently put it in the rock tumbler for a few hours.

Only one side has writing, and reads

Chas. Cluthe & Sons
125 E23rd St New York City

It has something to do with a fellow named Charles Cluthe who had a truss manufacturing business at that address beginning around 1906.

Anyone able or know a way to ID what specifically this piece is? Sorry I know they aren't the best pics, you'll have to trust me on the wording.

Have a look in some of those old 1800s Sears catalog reprints at the medical stuff. It must have been fairly miserable having health problems back then with what they had for the "fixes".
