If you live on the coast and have current and waves, a lot of fishermen use Sputnik sinkers. I find a lot of these and sell them on FB market place. First one I actually found with the price tag still on it. Usually fishermen are funny about tags on stuff by your bait. Down side is they hurt when you get a couple in your pouch water hunting. You can usually sell about 8 or ten of them for about thirty bucks. If I wanted to I could probably find about 20 a day at some spots. I hunt barefoot now because of these. Had one go through a dive boot once and went deep in my heel. Had a hard time hopping to shore. Was a little tricky getting it out of my heel. And yes it did hurt! Just thought I'd post these mainly because inlanders will never see one.

That thing weighs more than some fish I catch (bluegills) :rofl2: I'll bet that is a pain in the bum to reel in without a winch.

I agree with Felix, Actually I have never seen that type out here?
I think that in general unless someone spilled tackle on the beach they will only be found too deep to detect
on the beach. If they break off they are most likely going to break off further out because you won't use that
kind of sinker if you are casting close in-shore...

Don't hunt Connecticut beaches... our beaches are loaded with lead close to shore...

Those are hard as heck to carry in your pocket, but definitely money in the bank! As soon as I find one, I try to sell it to the first guy / gal I see fishing from shore. They might pass on normal weights, but those always sell.

Please don't misunderstand my meaning... I like finding lead. Means I have to spend less money on my other hobby :)
I'd be happy if I could find more of those on CA beaches.

Our beaches are different... I can walk out hundreds of yards before I hit water chest deep, thats all I was trying to say... you are on the ocean, I am not... I hunt in Long Island sound we are protected from ocean waves... add to that places I hunt are protected by a dozen islands cutting the waves down even more.
