Went to the beach today for some detecting and there were a few groups of people up at the top of the slope. As I detected just below the top of the slope SOMEONE in those groups kept throwing pennies out in front of me. GRRRRRRRR

The good news is I got disgusted with whoever it was and decided to try the low tide line and found these two beauties. No other targets but can't complain!

The sunglasses were deep in the wet sand and bent completely in half but being the optician that I am... I straightened them out. Barely a scratch on them!

Very nice 925 girl! Wish they had better cents and just unload quarters...I would dig those all day long...

Let me know if you need me to bring my spud cannon. Last penny tosser we had fled the country in a hurry:lol:

I was working the water one day about chest deep when I saw 3 clowns about 100 feet in front of me . It was obvious they were talking about me and snickering. Then one of them discreetly dropped something in the water and they all tried to act normal. I was wearing sunglasses so they had no clue I was watching them the whole time. When I got beside them and got the hit, I could see them looking out of the corner of their eyes, in great anticipation of their prank. I took a deep breath, went down for about 45 seconds and pulled a gold ring out of my pocket that I had found earlier. I came up, looked right at them and held up the ring and said "how about that" and kept moving.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2 very nice items there! Now we know it wasn't me tossing those pennies but I can't speak for Craig. Hmmmm....

Yeah I'm with you. Down here I'm finding pockets of pennies, I call them penny patches. I don't know if the ocean is corralling them all up or some one is planting them. It s nuisance to say the least. Congrats on the two finds.

Kid throwing rocks at me a few weeks ago. Parents thought all was good. Had to open up my lungs. Tried nicely twice. All the sudden the "parent" in the parents showed up. Coin tossers are a pain. Hh gl -Joe

I had a couple of guys toss pennies in my path not realizing my peripheral vision was able to see them. Without looking up I said " Throw something better next time!" They started laughing and apologized. I scooped up their coins and handed them back and grinned at them as they retreated back to their chairs.

That is classic. I would love to know what was said between them after that. You just got an A+ on the cool scale.

Pennies Now and then.. Lots of the old beach's I hunt are Penny and nickel heavy.. for every penny I dig I dig two nickels.. I think it had to do something with games, rides on shore...

Last month at Waikiki, was detecting the little slope and saw someone walking near the waterline with a Xcal with little 800 coil, full suite and scoop, grabbin things out a little container and tossing it in the water every two meters and about 3 to 10 meters out. There's a lot of pennies, bobby pins, bullet heads and other small copper balls found, so guess that was the guy
Walked towards the guy and shouted from a distance 'what the **** are you doing' the guy stopped tossing and started walking faster and within a few meters he fled in the water on the sandbank and strait deeper out.
Serge and I witnessed it from a short distance. Have no greencard so can't have trouble like that, but next time I will be waiting on the beach till he's heading home, I will be following him home and when I get his address I will turn him in to the police for littering :D
