I got my new Ace250 a few days ago. I have been showing my 11 year old daughter pictures of finds in these forums, telling her about the 100-130 year old homesite that we live on & talking about the 140 year old country school that she goes to (she can't wait to rip up the sandbox at school, lol).
Anyway, we've dug up a few nails, a few bullet shells, some buckshot & some other trash. Today, we got an interesting little item from about 7-8" down. At first, I thought it was a livestock ear tag (when it was clad in dirt), but it got more interesting as we scrubbed it off.
It is copper, lightly plated with nickel & about an inch square. It has some kind of oriental charactors cast into it (probably one of those one word slogans like "prosperity" or "tranquility" or something). On the back is a tiny hole, like it was hinged or something, though it is quite heavy for it's size (maybe that's why it's not still attached to what it came off of).
