I decided to return to my new permission and rework some of the fields that looked promising..

After hitting mostly buttons last time, today has seen more coins coming up, mostly copper, but just now a lovely Victoria Florin, and in reasonable condition too! This was follow by a Victoria threepence that had been turned into a charm.. Finally a shot of the assorted copper coins plus a couple of other bits that came up .

Nothing really old, but a very good 4 hours detecting...

Those coins are awesome! That Florin is very cool indeed.:waytogo:
Thanks Hoser, they are indeed lovely coins. The design is known as a Gothic Florin...It's only the second I have found..they are not considered as common as the other Victoria silver coinage..

The reverse on this one has some slight brown soil staining but once I have cleaned it, I will post a pic as the reverse on these coins is particularly nice.

Also, the Charm cleaned up nicely showing a small stone set into it:

Great job....I love how nothing old for you is the stuff I strive to find here lol

Fantastic hunt, Pete! You must have been thrilled to uncover your second-ever Gothic Florin (in good condition, too)! An 1857, it looks like... I find it really interesting that the date is written in Roman numerals. And the threepence, inlaid with the green gem, is very unique. Nice finds! :clapping:

It's all relative my friend...the green mostly toasted coppers are so common over here, while they are nice to findd, nobody thinks much about them unless they are say a good condition William and Mary..

If I lived in one of the northern parts of the US, something from the Copper Culture period would be high on my wish list...

Thanks, I have to confess I didn't know the date was in Roman numerals until somebody on another Forum mentioned it! lol
