Hi all,
I've been out of the game for some time. I was pretty experienced and have a Tesoro Tejon...though it has some type of short. Also had a simple DeLeon. I loved my Tejon.

I'm looking for a deep hunting machine that's relatively user friendly though im experienced and can ground balance etc. I hunt woods for relics in WV. I liked the dual discrimination my Tejon had....this doesn't seem to be a thing anymore. Was thinking on minelab equinox 600 or 800.....are the multi frequency machines better? I'm open to all advice
Trying to stay under 1500.

I don't think the equinox is a good relic machine, just my opinion. Not compared to what else is on the market. And I dont think these new simultaneous multi frequency machines are better than a single frequency machine either. Sure, every company is coming out with a simultaneous multi frequency machine now, and to me that’s for nothing more than fluff to make sales. But when you come right down to actual in field finds I have found less since I’ve been trying out these simultaneous multi frequency machines,my finds rate hit rock bottom. I’m over them..
And although I think the deus 1 is probably the best relic machine on the market,,, I think the Teknetics T2 and Fisher F75 are the only runners up after the Deus.

The Deep Tech Vista X is the modern version of what the Tejon could have been. Dual Disc with adjustable Iron tone & lightning fast separation, depth & mineral punch. They have an excellent selection of coils also. Very reasonably priced. Richard at Backwoods Detectors is the USA dealer.
The other machine I will recommend to anyone is the Nokta Legend. SMF & selectable single frequency with the features, adjustability & performance expected of a top tier detector. Don't be put off that it is not expensive like some. It is a tremendous value on par with anything out there in performance.

The main downfall of SMF is its susceptibility to EMI, and EMI will only get worse. In many of my sites, SF will outperform SMF due to EMI. In low EMI, I get better depth and better target ID accuracy with SMF. If you do happen to get a SMF detector, I highly suggest one that is also capable of SF modes.

In regards to the Nox 600 or 800:

The Legend has many advantages over the 600 and 800 and is more akin to the Nox 900 when it comes to build quality, features, and versatility. Although the 900 is significantly more expensive than the Legend, especially when you factor in accessory costs. If I were to purchase another Minelab detector, it would not be the 600 or 800, but rather the 700 or 900.

If you want to go deep, get a pulse induction. Even though it is an outdated machine, I like my gpx 4500, it was a pain in the rear, but dug a target about 18 inches yesterday while prospecting, not a keeper, only a 22 case, but she goes deep.
