I am new and need some instruction in how to go about using my metal detector so I am looking for someone in the Manchester Ct. area to learn a bit from and go hunting. Just joined Yankee Territory Coinshooters and am getting to know some of the folks there so Hopfully I can hook up with someone there too.
Thank You

Just a heads up.... be careful in Manchester. A good portion of the Town is on The National Register of Historical Places Including most of the Main Street Area, Cheney Mill area, Union pond area, Case Mountain and many others. You can see the whole list here:

or

Do your research...... I usually just hit a town Nearby. There are plenty of places and towns that have no zone listed in the Registry.

Wow thanks for the heads up, definitely will tread carefully in Manchester. I'm new to this and trying not to detect where I'm not allowed is tricky!

But if someone's got a home's yard within that boundary (ie.: private property, not public property), then a person can get permission, and hunt within that zone.

I've hunted at homes in designated historic districts such as the one you have there. And not had any problem. Provided, of course, that you have the owner's permission.
