Locating copper pipe with metal detector

Hi All,

This is a bit of a niche use, but I'm looking for a strong enough metal detector to locate a copper water line that might be 4 ft deep; perhaps more in some spots. Its 1-1/2" size so its fairly significant.

I've tried with a basic rental one and it could somewhat pick it up at shallow points, but not where its deep. Its further complicated that a lot of the terrain is thick basalt rock (though hopefully not over the pipe itself).

There are other options for tracing pipes, but this seems to be the most economical considering the material (if its possible). Anyone have any suggestions on a metal detector that can do this sort of thing? Anyone have any experience with this use? All advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Wynton

1 1/2 inch pipe at 4feet? That's crazy deep. Maybe a Gpx 7000 for $7000.00 could find it.
Or a two box style detector(two coils) one vertices and one horizontal?

Thanks Metaladdict,

Yes its way too deep in general, which has made this project way more difficult in general. I see the Minelab GPZ 7000. Do you mean that one or am I missing a different kind?
