It's that time of year again, lake level dropping.

Been a tough year getting out and detecting, I don't know why exactly but been too busy :( Drove by the lake a few days ago and was shocked at how much the water level has dropped since the last time I was there. The next day during lunch, I hit the 'free' 'beach' area. It's muck boot hunting where the water used to be, in sticky clay soil.

The good news is, got a 3.3ish gram 14k wedding band. Stamping on the inside is half warn off, so ti's been on someone's finger for awhile.

The next day I hit a different area and picked up the 'silver' turquoise/bear ring and an FG tungsten carbide 'junker'. Went back today, basically following the water down, found a busted iPhone (was hoping for some $ in the case - no luck) and four usable fishing lure/crankbaits. I'll hope to keep following the water out and see what more I can find. It's nice to have a place to go so close to my house again.

Anyway, happy hunting!

:dingding:Getting the gold even if you get dirty is good!

Thx! I don’t mind the muck, clean up is a bit of a pain, but it’s fun being back out with the detector.

Thanks Felix!
Nice scores GroundSweeper and I agree close to home is a huge plus.
Thanks! Lately proximity is make or break for hunting, I’ve hit this lake hard over the years, and will keep doing so :)

Nice precious ring ground sweep! Congrats!
Thank you Metal! It actually fits the ring finger on my right hand (which is bigger than the ring finger on my left hand ), and I wore it around for a few days, but never disappeared :( but I still have my hair. Anyway, hoping to get back out to the lake tomorrow to find that full ounce 14k necklace

Nice hunting GS - congrats on the rings! I know that hunting in that lake clay can be brutal work so well done!

Got a chance to go to the lake here as well near San Antonio. Canyon Lake is at depths not seen since 2011. Down 10 feet from the year before. Coins everywhere and gold and silver, about the largest men's ring I've found 10mm of 14k I think.

gotta love it when the water level drops!!
Not old gold spots but this spot has given up multiple golds and silvers over the years, and it's like 5 min away!
