Does anybody fix coils or know of anyone that does? I have 3 AT Pro coils that the ear(s) have snapped off and I just don't have it in me to buy yet another new one if they can be repaired. 2 stock and one smaller. I'm going to be cleared to start detecting again in about 5 weeks and I want everything up and ready to go. Thanks..

If you have the broken pieces you can weld them back on and also beef up the mounts at the same time. I mean no disrespect, but how do you break off the ears on your coils. Possibly a bad batch of coils. I have had numerous and never snapped one...........YET! Harbor freight has plastic welding kits for a cheap price and I use mine a lot. :waytogo: Almost forgot, there is a thread on here about someone fabricating new ears on a 3D printer. Look that up as well.

Thanks I'll look for that thread. I have absolutely no idea why this happens, because I treat this equipment like a baby....

There was a time I made and sold the ear reinforcements on fleebay, I now have the STL file on Cults. If you repair the coil with JB weld, you will still need the reinforcement. I also repaired a few coils for friends, using a plastic welder, the process is simple, yet once again, you will need the reinforcement.

Thanks for posting. I'm in the process of trying to repair my smaller one right this minute. Im using 1/4 plexi glass as a reinforcer. I just can't believe how flimsy coils seem to be...😠

This is the finished smaller coil. If this thing breaks then I'm definitely doing something wrong..lol. Putting the 2nd reinforcer on the 1st stock coil right now. And when I get the other back from Garrett it will also be done. Then I'll have 4 good coils again. I'd almost tell anyone to do this when you first get your machine, cause mine broke when I was out, luckily I had a back up with me. This sure beats spending $145.00 on a new coil.....
