Dug this civil war artillery officers button yesterday. Got it all cleaned up tonight! Very easy process! Soaked in some ammonia for about five minutes and then a very light brushing with some warm soap and water. A little bit of light tooth picking and another two minute ammonia soak. Warm water bath and it glows gold again!

Very happy with the results!

Here is the finish after a quick soak in the lemon juice!

Looks better, I'd probably soak a little longer and light brush to get more shine, BUT, it does look good as is.

Looks great. From my experience, I'd leave it where it is. Whenever I went for any extra shine, it just took everything off. The factory new shine won't come back. But I think it's great where it is.

I agree EmuDetector. I put it in some lemon juice for just a few minutes and it shined it up enough for me! It will get some R-wax and is awaiting its own personal display box!

Looks good Jelly! My personal preference is to pick/brush enough to identify or show as much detail as possible. I like em dirty, I think it adds character. Again just my preference.
