Another pinpointer topic...Fisher F-Pulse

My first Tek-Point was one of the early ones and had issues like many others have reported. First Texas honored their warranty and sent me a new one that had a circuit board update. I liked it so much that I bought a second one too. They are still going strong after almost 5 years. They like rechargeable batteries and at least where I detect most often in high iron mineralization, they are by far the deepest. I can depend on 4" of depth on a US coin sized target. My Garrett Carrot gets half that on in the ground targets.

Since they are pulse induction instead of single frequency VLF, air test results don't tell the whole story.

The F-Pulse and Tek-Point are pulse induction waterproof pinpointers. They were specifically made for salt sand, saltwater and moderate to high iron mineralization. They don't play well with pulse induction detectors. They also need careful use around simultaneous multi frequency detectors. Since those are the kind of detectors I use, I make sure to have my Tek-Point turned on when I do a noise cancel on my Equinox 800, Equinox 900, Legend or Deus 2. I also don't put my detector's coil near my Tek-Point when I am recovering a target.

They can be twitchy but they are super sensitive for a reason.

I have had my F-Pulse working beautifully for years. It did take a replacement, and it did take getting them to send a stronger spring/battery cap for the second you. I assume they had fixed that spring in new F-Pulse units. The F-Pulse is "battery type" sensitive. AA alkaline, Panasonics specifically is my choice. I wonder if I had worked with the first Pulse and resolved the battery in the very first one I owned, if it woulda stayed stable. The first one was a monster in depth! It got 5 1/2 inches on a nickel and nearly 4 inches on a clad dime. It was heaven. I concluded that the replacement came with the revised firmware. I talked to them on the phone about and all they would answer was, "It is working at specs". Frustrating since I had experienced the performance of the first one for about a week. It was a game changer.

I will always carry the F-pulse along with the TRX. They compliment each other nicely. Jmc2 worth.

I had the Teknetics Tek-point for a couple of years before it was recently neutered. Next to my Bullseye TRX it was one of the best pinpointers I’ve ever owned. I had it lock up on me once, but learned quickly not to start it up near metal. I only let it go to sweeten the pot on a metal detector sale, and after purchasing a second Bullseye TRX. Interestingly, the same engineer built the Tek-Point and the TRX.

"Interestingly, the same engineer built the Tek-Point and the TRX."

I did not know that. I knew the F-Pulse and the Tek-point was the same, not that the TRX was engineered together.

Would that be Carl Moreland for both?

Yes, Carl Moreland, aka Geotech. The TRX was engineered long before F-pulse and Tek-Point. The TRX even has space in it for a planned wireless module that never came to fruition

I've only had mine for about a month, but I love it.

Feels good in my hand and the adjustable sensitivity is great. Batteries seem to last a long time so this will definitely save money over a 9 V battery powered pinpointer.

Don't know about that, 9v in my carrot typically last the entire summer and beyond

I have rechargeable 9volt batteries, and always carry a spare just in case. :chaplin: :chaplin: I also have " The Carrot "
too_
i gave up on rechargeable 9v long ago, too expensive and used too little, but I carry spares in my vehicle too, Carrot gets wonky when the charge is low

Since this old thread popped up, I've had my F-Pulse for 3 1/2 years now and still love it. It has been reliable and it is still sensitive and deep.

I can second this statement as I have a Vibra-Probe and it doesn't play well with my Equinox at all.

The Minelab Pro Find 35 pointer and the Garrot carrot are by far the 2 best all-around on the market. Unless of course you have a XP Deus Or XP Deus II.

Then the XP Mi-6 pointer is the best choice because it ties in wirelessly with the unit. Same audio in your headphones. It's really slick!
The Pro Find 35 might be popular but it's not anywhere close to as good as the Vibra Probe in my opinion. My Pro find works differently every time I use it so I gave up and bought one that works consistently.

A lot of companies, American or otherwise, are run that way.

Screw the consumer and take their chances with litigation or customer support on a case-by-case basis.
The funny thing about all this (around here any way)..... (Well on second not funny but ironic) The most respected company around where I live... and this includes banks and hospitals and car dealerships and attorneys, is a company that installs septic tanks. I know people that have reluctantly paid the $150 a year for a full coverage warranty just to find out later that they actually stand behind their S%#!. One guy I know had one for the first 6 years and was complaining about wasting the money on the warranty. Then in the next 4 years he had to call them 3 times. They came and fixed the issue and never charged a dime extra.. Needless to say he was tickled S%#!less. They really do have a good reputation and that's why. They take care of their customers.
