I would say that it’s in a hair better condition than the photos show, but just based on the photos what do you think it’s worth?

Thanks, I’m not necessarily a coin guy, but I do have some coins that weren’t dug from when I was a kid and I was going through them. I just looked at eBay and this one sold yesterday. I suppose it looks a hair better, but it does have some black stains on the front.

FleaBay

A number of them sold yesterday.

This one sold for about $100 and looks worse than mine. But, I don’t really know if there are specific things to look for. Plus, I can tell in some of the listings that the sellers are playing games with the photos.

Another Fleabay

I’m just going to put an ad up for $100 plus shipping. From what I can see it’s nice coin and I don’t think that’s an unreasonable price. Plus, if nobody wants it for that price, I’ll just stick it back in my box. 🙂

I'd put it on there @ $125 starting bid, with a buy it now option for $200. Give it time, if no takers, bump it down to starting bid $100 and buy it now $175 or something. Based on what I'm seeing on the bay, you should be able to get close to $200 or so, but I'm far from an expert.

Thanks, I’m far from an expert also. It seems like we used to have a number of knowledgeable coin guys on the site.

I’m reluctant to sell it on eBay, because sellers can be so easily abused. All someone has to do is buy your item, claim that it wasn’t as described and then you have to accept the return or eBay will take the money from your account. That’s not a problem, except for the fact that they can return a different coin, or an empty mailer for that matter, and you have no recourse. Unless you want to press charges in their local jurisdiction. eBay will not accept any evidence, such as photos of what was returned, to be presented by you in your defense.

I sold a brand new, in its original sealed box, trail camera to guy. He claimed the item “wasn’t as described”(that’s the key), and eBay forced me to refund him. Again, it was brand new and in its sealed factory box.

I had to pay shipping both ways and what I received when his return arrived was a torn open box with an old broken generic Chinese trail camera in it. What I sent him was Moultrie’s most expensive trail camera at the time. eBay did nothing about it, even though I had a 10+ year account with 100% feedback.

No more eBay for me for valuable items. I put up an ad up here on the site for $100. I think that’s reasonable for a nice coin that someone might need to fill out their Quarter collection. It’s the least minted Washington Quarter.

I don't blame you, I stopped using the bay a few years ago. That's a great price for someone looking to fill a hole in a collection for sure!
