static on startup

Today hunting a volley ball court all i was getting on startup before noise cancel and ground balance was static and the 800 would not even detect a surface key or my hesche shovel. Did a noise cancel and ground balance and reduced sensitivity to 19 and no effect, still static. More like radio...
