Started off at school where I got a couple wheats before, nabbed another, 1936 as well as a sterling piece of jewelry. Then hit another spot where I got a few more wheats. Got a jumpy high tone and the Maryland button popped out! Knew it was gonna have some nice gold gilt to be revealed when cleaning it. Thrilled with that find. On my way back to the car I got a quarter signal maybe 4 inches deep and nearly crapped when I saw the back of a large cent. Only my third one of these and by far the best shape. After I got the dirt off I could see it still had great detail, but the entire lower bust/date area had a lot of crusty verdigris. The back had a decent amount as well however not as crusty as the front. I tried several gentle methods to try and get it off with no luck. What did the trick was putting olive oil in a pan and heating it up and then place the coin in. After a few minutes it started lifting off the verdigris and I removed it a few times and picked at it with a toothpick. It came out great too. It was an awesome hunt and I think I gotta go with the button as my new all time favorite find. Thanks for looking and happy hunting to everyone!
