Maiden voyage with my long awaited Equinox 800. I’ve said my very first stop was going to be my little honey hole on the north edge of my yard. I’ve pulled tons of coins and goodies from this little tiny sliver of yard. I pounded it with my ATPro, then got the small 5x8 coil, then the giant NEL Storm coil. Then I got my trusty ETrac, and I hunted this spot dozens and dozens of times, with the awesome stock ProCoil, the Sunray X-5 hockey puck, the SEF 8X6, the Detech 13” ‘Ultimate’ coil, and the NEL Thunder. I’ve hunted it in sopping wet mud, dry dust powder, slow swing speeds, fast speeds, Two Tone ferrous, super tight discrim patterns (Bill S’s) and wide open screens. You name it, I’ve done it. It’s been over a year since I’ve found a single coin in my favorite spot... until today.
I did a manual ground balance, a noise cancel, set the mode to Park2, and discriminated out everything except 12-13 and 19-35. Sensitivity at 23, tones at 50. The machine is very stable and seems like lightening fast response after using my ETrac for so long. The first target was the 1917 wheat, the VDI was terrible and very jumpy but it had that familiar sound that didn’t waiver a bit. I was astounded to dig a single coin from this place. One target after the next, same story (except the nickel, it was very steady) but each target had either iron in the hole, or very near by. The silver Washington had a 5 inch long lag bolt along side it. In all, I am very very impressed with this machine, and its capabilities. Now I gotta rehunt all my places!
Total found: 1917 wheat, 1907 Indian head, 1923 Merc, 1906 V nickel, 1943 Washington, a bag/bale seal, and a little brass ring.
