I have a newer XLT that I seldom use because I know my old Tek. I don't have to watch the meter because it has the first audio discrimination ever put in a detector. It is far better than what they have now. It about drove me crazy at first, but suddenly it made sense. It may not go as deep as the new detectors, but I still find silver now and then. I met George Payne, the founder of Teknetics at a hunt in Oklahoma. He invented the target ID for Whites and the audio descrimination for Tek. I had him take it back to the factory with him and convert it to a hip-mount. The shaft is so light that I can swing it all day without getting tired and I'm 64 years old. I wish that I could afford a new Tek, but I doubt it I ever will be able to. I just hope my 9000 lasts as long as I do. It uses 14 AA batteries but they last for months. I usually change them before they are dead because I can't believe that they are lasting so long.
