When I saw the crowd piling into the field I decided to call it a day and headed back toward the car. I was going to turn off the detector but decided to leave it on and swing it as I walked back. I know, I know, it's another of those many "I found something on the way back to the car stories", but this one is true. I dug a pendant that's marked .925 AND 18K at the same time, something I've never dug before. After cleaning it, I could see (just barely) two little "knobs" with a gold color. I'll assume the knobs (above and below the Turquoise) are 18 carat gold and because of their extremely small size they probably melt out at about 25 cents.
There's also a maker's mark on the back which is most likely from a souvenir store in Arizona or somewhere.
